Welcome Back to the Science Lab

Hello Tassajara Hills Families and Students!!!

Welcome to the 2018-2019 School year.  My name is Lynne Ertola and I am the science lab teacher for grades 1 - 5.  My first, second, and third grade students will come to the science lab once a week.  My fourth and fifth grade students join me in the science lab twice a week.

I  believe the science lab should support the material learned in the primary classroom by hands-on, inquiry based experiments and investigations.  Students will be studying three main units in each grade level: Earth Science, Physical Science, and Life Science.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me via email at lertola@srvusd.net or my classroom phone 925-855-7826.

It's going to be a great year learning about science and practicing our science lab skills.

Hello Friends, Families and Students of the THE Garden Club

The THE Garden Club is open to all 4th and 5th students who enjoy gardening.  The THE Garden Club meets twice a month to tend to our garden.  Students will learn about basic gardening skills, weeding, pruning, composting, sustainability, soil chemistry, and much more.Traditionally, we meet the first and third Monday of each month from 3-4:15 pm.  I will be sending home permission slips the first week of school.  A $25 donation is asked to help cover student costs during the year.

More information to follow...

Thank you,

Science Alliance 2018

Hello Fifth Grade Students and Families,

Science Alliance is a student-run club that works with the other high schools and all the elementary schools in the San Ramon Valley School District. It allows fifth grade “buddies” to be guided through their own science experiment over the duration of the school year by a high school “mentor.” Their efforts will culminate into a big science fair held at one of the high schools in April. Our goal is to successfully pair a high school mentor with a 5th grade buddy and give them a forum to create a Science Fair Project and forge new relationships with fellow science enthusiasts.

Monte Vista’s chapter will be accepting fifth grade buddies from Green Valley, Vista Grande, Tassajara Hills, Creekside, and Coyote Creek. We have attached a flyer with all the information about the club and how to sign up on it.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at admin@mvsciencealliance.org
